Heidi Machen is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has undergone advanced education and training to diagnose and treat a wide range of both acute and chronic illnesses. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of common and complex healthcare problems beginning in childhood and continuing throughout the aging process. As a nurse practitioner Heidi is able to order both screening and diagnostic labs, imaging test, and prescribe medications to properly diagnose and treat most disease and illnesses. She completed her bachelors in 2008 and graduated with honors with her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2011 with a graduate program focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed in the state of Arkansas to provide family centered healthcare to patients of all ages.

Heidi has experience with diagnosing, treating, and caring for a diverse population and prides herself on a bedside manner that is direct yet compassionate. She strives to elevate the quality of service in the healthcare field by actively coordinating patient care across specialties and healthcare facilities. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, Heidi provides routine health screenings and counseling on lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent illnesses before they develop. Heidi was born and raised in Batesville. Heidi and her husband, Dene, have two children Emily and Kegan. In her free time Heidi enjoys being outdoors kayaking, shooting guns, and spending time with her family.

She was inspired to attend nursing school by her grandmother, Mary Wanda Lee and her mother Sharon Wilkins, who both worked with Dr. Bob Slaughter. Heidi later carried on the family tradition and worked for Dr. Slaughter as his registered nurse in the very same building that she is practicing in today. Heidi’s daughter, Emily has also joined the team making this the fourth generation to work in the healthcare field. Machen Family Medical has been built on the deep roots of generations providing health care for the Batesville area and the tradition continues.
